HUCKESTEIN DORIS (MARSH) On February 23, 2017, Doris (Marsh) Huckestein, age 91, went peacefully to join her beloved late husband of 69 years, Harold W. Huckestein. Doris is survived by her brother-in-law, James E. (Blanche) Huckestein; nieces, Susan Schaffner of Chesapeake, VA, Kimberly (Gerry) Charney; nephews, Steven C. Schaffner, and James E. (Babs) Huckestein, Jr. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, William G. and Blanche (Bendel) Marsh; brothers, William Marsh, Roger (Susan) Marsh; sister, Evelyn Davis Fako; nieces, Gayle Davis Brown, Lynn (Mike) Connolly; and nephew, Peter Davis. Also, survived by many grandnieces and nephews. Doris was a member of Eastern Star and served twice as Worthy Matron which highlighted her willingness to help others. She had many interests reading, camping, sailing, all of which gave her fodder for her dry sense of humor. She was quiet, she was kind. She will be missed. Doris and Harold spent every bit of their 69 wedded years together: literally together. They attended conferences and traveled extensively. Traveling together to Normandy, France for the 50th year anniversary of D-Day where Harold was honored by the French government for his Naval service in WWII was a thrill for them. Visits to England and Greece and sailing and camping in many places of interest in the good ole' USA were wonderful adventures they both revisited in conversations with friends and family. We are comforted in the certain knowledge that this devoted couple are together again and we are happy for them. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choosing in Doris' name. As per Doris' wishes, there will be no viewing.
