Gracious to the end, she took great joy in her family and in her faith, and she always loved a good party. Born and raised in McKeesport, she was a graduate of Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. She completed an internship in dietetics at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY, and she worked as a clinical dietitian for many years at McKeesport Hospital. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Thomas a' Becket Roman Catholic Church in Clairton, PA, and a member of the McKeesport College Club. She is survived by her five children, Robert Blaine Lutes II, John O'Neil Lutes, Christopher T. Carl graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, majoring in Business Administration. While at Duquesne University, he was a member of Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity. He worked in the tire industry, retiring from NTB as a salesman. He and Judi moved to Summerville for retirement and became very involved in their neighborhood, Del Webb. Carl was the founder of the Del Webb Epicurean Wine Club and he was a member of various clubs and groups. He enjoyed fishing, golf, wine pairings, biking, pickle ball, tennis and the beach. Carl was a charter member of Our Lady of Joy Council of Knights of Columbus in Plum, PA and was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, Summerville. LINK JOHN T., Sr. Retired Navy Chief, John T. Link, Sr., age 77, left this life for his final journey on Wed., March 16, 2016, at Duke Hospital, Raleigh, NC with loving family by his side. April 26, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA, Jack was born, third child of nine, to the late Robert Emmitt and Regina Calmus O'Malley Link. He grew up on Mt. Washington until age 19 when he enlisted in the Navy and married the love of his life, Frances Robson, on Feb. 15, 1958, in St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church. They set up housekeeping in Norfolk, VA as John began his career as a crew member in the submarine division of the United States Navy. Stationed in several states during his career, he retired in Willingboro, NJ, his last assignment, where he worked as Head Maintenance Supervisor for two different companies, Nabisco and Campbell Soup before moving his "bride", son and family to Raleigh, NC in 2011. Surviving are his wife, Fran; son, John (Melissa), Jr., Florence, NJ; brothers, Martin (Diane) Link, Sr., Mt. Washington, PA, Paul (Mary Ann) Link, Sr., Mars, PA; sister, Catherine M. MISSEL WILLIAM BILL Age 75, of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 25, 2016, in his home. He was born on June 25, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of the late William H. and Genevieve Walters Missel, Sr. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School. He attended the Community College of Allegheny County from 1974-1976, where he studied Criminology. He proudly served his country with the Army National Guard from 1957-1959 and with the United States Army from 1959-1962, receiving an honorable discharge. From March 1968 until his retirement in March, 1994, Bill was employed by the Canonsburg Borough Police Department as a Police Officer. After his retirement, he went on to work as a Security Officer for several organizations in the area. He was a member of the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church. Bill served his community as the chairman for the Canonsburg-Houston Salvation Army Service Unit, was past President and Lt. Governor of the Canonsburg-Houston Kiwanis Club, past Officer of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 22, past board member of the United Way of Washington County, chairman of the W.B. Houston Fund, and member of the Canonsburg American Legion Post 253. On January 7, 1967, he married his beloved wife, Selma J. Mackiewicz Missel, who survives. Also surviving are three loving children, Michael (Yvette) Missel of Whittier, California, Susan Smith of Burgettstown, and Joy (Patrick) Greely of Houston; seven precious grandchildren, Samantha Smith of Uniontown, William and Heather Smith of Houston, Ryan and Hayley Missel of Whittier, California, and Daniel and Matthew Greely of Houston; and a brother-in-law, Don Whitcomb of West Mifflin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, May Whitcomb. JENIK CAROL JANE MARIE (ZYLA) Passed away peacefully on the morning of May 20, 2016, in Old Lyme, CT, due to complications related to congestive heart failure. Born in Pittsburgh to Joseph Zyla and Florence Shelton, Carol was raised by her father and her aunts in the Bloomfield section of the city and educated at St. John the Baptist. She lived with and was caregiver for her grandmother through her teenage years. Shortly after graduating high school she fell in love and married Richard M. ("Dick") Yenick, of Turtle Creek. They were married 55 years, until his death in 2010. The couple eventually settled to raise their family in the towns of Delran and Delanco, NJ. Carol was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, friend and grandmother to her family and also served as a surrogate mom to many over the course of her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by her surviving children, daughter, Jocelyn and her partner, Rich Shriver of Old Lyme, CT; daughter, Adriene of Phoenix, AZ; and son, Richard and his spouse, Kristina (Duarte) of Los Angeles, CA; as well as by her grandchildren, George and Ray (Doll), Anthony (Aguirre) and Paloma (Jenik); stepsiblings, Phyllis (Zyla/Whitesell), Sandra (Zyla/Abretske), Daniel (Zyla); and countless friends and extended family who hold her in their hearts. Joe was born on July 12, 1923, in Calumet, PA, a son of the late Rosario and Mary Petrantoni. Loving husband for more than 30 years to the late Rose Marie; beloved father of Karen Marshall; adoring grandfather of Devan and wife, Tara Marshall, and the late Reid Marshall; cherished great-grandfather of Emma Rose and Luke Reid Marshall; and loving companion of many years to Yetta. Joe was a veteran of WWII and owner of Lujoe's Beauty Salon of the South Hills. He was a pioneer in the cosmetology industry and was considered a major contributor in the beauty profession while leading and developing the business model as it exists today. Joe was Past President of Parent Teacher's Guild of St. Anne's Church and a participant in The Dormont Lions Club and South Hills Rotary. He was a member of Nottingham, Mt. Lebanon and Valley Brook Country Clubs. The co-developer with his daughter, Karen, in the Reidmont Manor Plan in Peters Township named in memory of his late grandson, Reid. All a product of his venture to purchase the land in the 1950s which he was so proud of. He was a self-made man of many interests and talents. Traveling the world with Rose through the Builders Association and Trans International Airlines making dear friends wherever they landed. From Egypt to the Far East and meeting Castro in Cuba. Joe was witty, charming and engaging, and his unique sense of humor made it easy for everyone he met to become his friend. An avid reader of great books, papers and magazines, he could speak on any subject. A gentleman by nature, Joe always greeted every woman "Hi Lovey". Joe will be missed and cherished by all for his constant outpouring of caring, interest, insight and words of wisdom with life's guiding lessons for all to follow.
