SERAFIN SISTER MARY ESTHER, SHS Age 97, died peacefully on May 22, 2016, at Marian Manor. She entered the community of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit from Oil City, PA. A graduate of Duquesne University and certified as a Medical Record Technician, Sister Esther was a principal and teacher in schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania and an organist in several parishes. Sister served as medical record technician at Marian Manor and insurance secretary at the Motherhouse. Sister Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Siembieda Serafin and Martin Serafin; and siblings, Mitchell, Sr. Martina Serafin, Joseph, Jane Serafin, Ted, Cecilia Serafin Bednar, Maximillian and Francis. She is survived by her sister, Helen (John) Monagle of Juneau, Alaska; nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the Motherhouse of Sisters of the Holy Spirit Tuesday, May 24, 2016, 1:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse. FRAZIER ALINE HORST Of the North Hills, just shy of her 91st birthday, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 19, 2016, in the loving arms of her daughter. Aline was the daughter of Arthur and Lula (Esson) Horst, born May 28,1925, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Aline grew up on Davis Avenue, graduated from Oliver High School and attended Allegheny College. During her junior year, she transferred to the University of Pittsburgh to be with her childhood sweetheart, John T. Frazier, who had returned after flying 35 missions as a B-17 pilot with the Mighty Eighth. Aline received her BA degree in Sociology and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. After graduation, Aline was a preschool teacher in Pittsburgh and volunteered to read to the blind. Aline and John married in 1947 and after the birth of their first daughter, Charlotte, Aline became a stay at home mother and the family grew to three daughters. Aline and John were blessed with 47 years of marriage until John's death in 1995. Aline was active in her church, Highland Presbyterian, volunteered with Meals On Wheels and for ManorCare nursing home. She also took excellent unfailing care of her aging relatives and spent many hours delivering meals and comfort. John and Aline traveled extensively and especially enjoyed traveling with their family, most of all they loved spending time with their grandsons, John and Matthew. John and Aline loved to dance together and they often requested their favorite song, Girl From Ipanema. They had season passes to Walt Disney World where they spent many happy hours together. Aline enjoyed playing the piano and singing and spending time with her lifetime friends from Oak Hill Manor. She was a season ticket holder of Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera and enjoyed attending the events with her husband, friends and daughters. Aline's mother, Lula Esson Horst Steele, was her best friend and Lou was a music teacher in the Pittsburgh School district who also enjoyed playing the piano and singing. Aline was preceded in death by her loving husband, John T. Frazier of Pittsburgh; her beloved daughter, Charlotte Aline Frazier of Mundelein, Illinois; and her son-in-law, Wayne Virgin of Franklin Park, PA. Aline leaves her daughter, Sharon Lynne Frazier and her husband, Jeffrey T. McClellan of Coburn, Pennsylvania, and their son, John Frazier McClellan of New York City and Berlin, Germany; her daughter, Anne Carole Frazier of Sewickley, Pennsylvania; her son-in-law, Roman Gerus of Mundelein, Illinois; and her grandson, Matthew Frazier Gerus of San Diego, California. Aline also leaves her cousin, Charles Esson of Pittsburgh; and her nephew, niece, and step-grandsons. Aline will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery alongside her husband, John. The service will be held at Arlington in October. AGNEW THOMAS HOWARD Age 62, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Beloved son of Nancy and the late Thomas W. Agnew; cherished brother of William (Vera) Agnew, Cathy (Richard) Stout, Nancy (Phillip) Koch and the late Laura Gambaro; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. Tom was a lifelong automotive enthusiast. In his younger days, he was a successful racer winning numerous trophies at Pittsburgh International Dragway in his Dodge Super Bee. He was also a lifelong avid Pittsburgh sports fan. WESTON GAYLE MYERS Age 94, of Sherwood Oaks, formerly of Ross Twp. and North Ft. Myers, FL, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on Saturday, May 21, 2016. Beloved wife of 70 years to the late Harold “Buck” Weston; loving mother of Tex Weston (Phyliss), Jo Bethea (Ray), Gary Weston (Bev), Cheryl Pattinson (Jim) and Kim Michaels (Russ). Gayle is survived by 16 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buck; and three grandchildren, Collin Weston, Sheila Weston and Damon Pattinson. Gayle was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on December 31, 1921, and graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1939. Following graduation she entered nursing school at Sewickley Valley Hospital in Sewickley, PA, during which time she met Buck, a WWII bomber pilot, whom she married in 1943. After the war Gayle worked as a registered nurse and for many years helped her husband in his real estate business, but her primary vocation was being mom to her five children. Gayle was a lifelong member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Sewickley Chapter 439, and for over 50 years was a member of the Highland Country Club. An avid Bridge player and golfer, Gayle had two hole-in-ones and was the Women's Club Champion at Highland Country Club in 1967. She was a former member of the Hiland Presbyterian Church in Ross Township, PA, and later attended the Valencia Presbyterian Church in Valencia, PA and the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in North Fort Myers, FL. In keeping with Gayle's wishes there will be no visitation. A private memorial service for the family will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016.
