KEAGY ROBERT ARTHUR OF FRIENDS...

KEAGY ROBERT ARTHUR Of Friendship Village, Tempe, AZ, age 89, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Bob was born on April 4, 1926, to Arthur and Mary (Middour) Keagy, and grew up in Waynesboro and Pittsburgh, PA with his brother, Donald and his sister, Janet. He loved to spend his summers at the farm/Roadside in Waynesboro, PA. He was a Penn State University Industrial Engineering graduate under the ROTC program, and served in the Navy. He married June Bachman of Detroit, Michigan on June 29, 1950. Together they built their home in Peters Township, PA, raised two children, Laurie and Raun, and shared 53 years of love, joys, sorrows, challenges and adventures. Bob was a lover and a fighter. He loved God, country, family, community and friends. He always encouraged people to be part of the discussion and was always willing to get involved in his church and community needs. He had served as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Washington County, and through the years had been a volunteer tutor in the Adult Literacy Program. He battled several health issues through the years, all while being thankful for the many blessings he had been given. Throughout his career, he worked for Cadillac, Trane, Limbaugh & Busch companies, before starting a business partnership and then owning his own Industrial Sales business. In 2007, a few years after his wife, June, passed away, Bob moved from PA to his own cottage at Friendship Village in Tempe, AZ. He loved living only a few miles away from his son, Raun, and enjoyed new friendships and interests with his neighbors and the staff at Friendship Village. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Tempe and lived life with a charitable heart. Bob loved Sheltie dogs and summer camping vacations on Lake Superior as a rock hound hunting for agates. He was a loving and supportive grandpa to his two grandsons, Nate and Aaron, and loved to share the spirit of being an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan with his son, Raun, and daughter-in- law, Amy. Dad's blend of faithfulness, sacrifices, love and support was his daughter, Laurie's, blueprint for marriage and raising a family. He was loved for his inquisitive nature, the closeness of his hug, the heartiness in his laughter and the sparkle in his eyes when he laughed. He encouraged us to remember that life is to be an enjoyable experience and that we should always make sure that those we love...know we love them. Bob is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Jim); and grandsons, Nathaniel and Aaron Martin of Coon Valley, WI; his son, Raun (Amy Powell) Keagy; and mother-in-law, Sharron Virden, of Mesa, AZ; his sister, Janet Coringrato, of Allentown, PA; sister-in-law of Virginia Moore, of Peoria, AZ; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS, 724-941-3211. Friends welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray 15317, on Sunday, June 21, 2015, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. There will be a family Graveside Service in Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesboro, PA on Monday, June 22, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be given to one's local literacy program or library, Friendship Village of Tempe, AZ or a charity of one's choice.
